Software Engineer II

The Software Engineer role is responsible for developing solutions to complex problems on a cross-functional software product team.

Essential Functions:

  • Full stack development (creating, enhancing, troubleshooting, maintaining and testing) using .Net, React, and other technologies
  • Collaborate with product owners and other engineers to solve complex technology and business problems in an agile development environment
  • Actively share your expertise in development best practices and methodologies to help continually improve the productivity and quality of the team
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality software by writing clean code and utilizing test-driven development (TDD), and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD), and both collaborative and solo programming.
  • Respond to production outages to minimize customer impact
  • Develop cloud-native solutions with good design practices while finding opportunities to simplify and scale
  • Take business stories and work with team members to identify technical solutions to drive products forward
  • Embrace change, always open to replacing what you built before with something better today
  • Be passionate about design, industry standards, and building reliable platforms

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attends regular meetings within the Technology Solutions department
  • Remains current on industry trends and provides regular feedback to the teams as necessary
  • Complies with departmental and WSRB policies and procedures
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 4+ years of equivalent professional or military experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as C#, JavaScript, or Java, including object-oriented design
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
  • 2+ years working on full stack development
  • 1+ years working with React, Angular, Vue, or similar frontend technologies
  • Familiarity with relational databases and schema design
  • 2+ years of experience building and deploying cloud-scale products in a professional capacity
  • 2+ years writing unit/integration tests
  • Experience in at least one of the top cloud providers, preferably Azure
  • Familiarity with logging and alerting practices, ex: Azure Application Insights
  • Experience with continuous delivery, automated deployments, and related engineering practices
  • Agile practitioner, able to deliver products iteratively
  • Able to develop code independently or as part of a pair programming team
  • Get along well with others and thrive in a collaborative environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Internal / External Contacts:

Daily contact with Technology Solutions departmental staff, other internal department personnel, and all levels of management at WSRB. Occasional contact with software vendors and architects.

Working Environment: 

  • Typical remote working conditions
    • Laptop, docking station, and monitor provided by WSRB
    • Commonly on video calls with team members
  • Travel to Seattle area up to 8 times per year for in-person All-Team and department meetings
  • Ability to use computer, mouse, and keyboard
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Repetitive use of hands required

Pay Range:   

$101,981 - $163,169

Job Type:

Full-time (8 hour shift, Monday to Friday)
