xplore the resources below to better serve your customers.

Prepare today for a safer tomorrow

National Preparedness Month is an opportunity for insurers, homeowners, businesses, and communities to reflect on the importance of emergency preparedness.

At WSRB, we understand the unique risks faced by businesses and properties across Washington and beyond. This month, we're dedicated to providing the resources, insights, and actionable steps you need to protect your assets and loved ones.

The risks

Washington State is vulnerable to a variety of natural disasters,
including wildfires, earthquakes, and severe weather.

Average of 944 wildland fires annually

According to the DNR, the state averaged 944 fires per year between 2012-2022.1 These fires cost hundreds of millions of dollars annually due to suppression costs, property damage, and insurance payouts.

Upward of 1,000 earthquakes each year

Small earthquakes occur regularly throughout the state. However, one large earthquake is all it takes to incur excessive losses; the 2001 Nisqually quake racked up a bill of potentially $4 billion.2

Severe weather events cost billions of dollars
Since 1980, Washington has seen 35 weather disasters, each causing over $1 billion.3 These events include droughts, floods, freezes, and severe storms, highlighting the significant financial risks posed by extreme weather.
